London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Last year, Nicky Tyerman, a man so close to many of our hearts, passed away from bone cancer. I am running this year to raise awareness, gain support and help fund more research into the disease. I haven't met anyone more strong than the Tyerman family, simply put, they are astounding. I am in awe of their strength. I want to do as much as I possibly can to help support families going through what the Tyerman family have. Katherine, Emily, Laura and Bea you really are amazing. Any research and support that can be funded to alleviate the pain this family have been put through deserves every penny we can get, which really is why I am running for BCRT.
My plan is to run the London Marathon in October and I hope to raise as much money as I can to support the charity. The running begins on Sunday 22nd May with the Hackney Half Marathon. I will be so grateful for any donation you are able to give. Even the smallest amount really could make the largest difference.
Having known little about the disease prior to Nicky's diagnosis, I know now bone cancer really is a savage disease. Bone cancer is a brutal, under-funded and under-researched form of the disease. The Bone Cancer Research Trust exists to ensure patients receive the support and information they so desperately need, fund research that will improve the outcomes for those with primary bone cancer, and ultimately find a cure.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%! Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
Finally, this for you Nicky my friend.
Thank you so very very much in advance of any donation.
Lots of love from Alice
