Story
St John Ambulance is the nation’s first aid charity, Every year more than 400,000 people are trained by St John Ambulance on how to save a life. As a nurse, this charity is close to my heart as it makes a difference between life and death.
St John Ambulance volunteers provide first aid in our communities, keeping us safe at events as well as working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls and providing life saving equipment.
I am hoping to raise enough money for an Automated Defibrillator which is an essential life saving step in the chain of survival to someone who is in cardiac arrest. With the money I hope to raise, I would like to increase the number of Defibrillators we have in our local community.
A marathon is the furthest I have run or even contemplated. Whilst this is the biggest challenge I have ever set myself, I am very excited about crossing the finish line and have proved my determination to succeed by training in the pouring rain, gale force winds and chilly temperatures.
