Story
As some of you know our dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease in January, following a very difficult and upsetting year. Alzheimers and other dementias are complicated and horrible. But you can learn to live with it as we have done (with lots of help) and will carry on doing so! The Alzheimers Society has helped us in the following ways:
- Providing clear and detailed fact sheets about many aspects of dealing with Alzheimers disease
- Providing advice via email and on the phone when we were having difficulty getting to see an appropriate doctor and getting a diagnosis
- Since getting the diagnosis, an Alzheimers Society community nurse has visited us and provided lots of information and assistance with applying for disability living allowance
- My dad attends a weekly coffee morning in Bromley which is run by the Alzheimers Society
The three of us will do the walk together, it is a five mile walk including Battersea Park and Chelsea Embankment. We are hoping to do two things - raise the profile of the Alzheimers Society and also raise some money so they can continue with their work.
We know this is not a marathon or similar majestic feat(!), but if you feel like supporting this cause it would be much appreciated.
Fundraising target increased!!! Thanks for all donations so far :)
