Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with Challenges Worldwide on an International Citizen Service placement (ICS). ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long-term community development.
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Challenges Worldwide and their ICS partners. The money
raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue with and create more programmes to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities. The programme has been fully funded by DFID (Department for International Development) who run ICS so all money raised will go directly to the charities and not on funding me to volunteer abroad.
After this, I will be heading to Kampala, Uganda for 10 weeks over the summer of 2017 to, amongst over things, work with local small and medium sized enterprises with other volunteers from both the UK and the host country!
Obviously, I do not expect people to sponsor me for doing nothing, so I am planning various events such as a pub quiz, cake sales and more! On top of this, I will be doing a personal challenge of doing Tough Mudder in the summer before I go overseas!
Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so any help will be really appreciated!
Thank you for your support!
