Hello, I'm Alice!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. 

In July I will volunteer for 11 weeks on a development programme in Palestine. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. I’ll be working alongside volunteers from Palestine, on a long-term, sustainable project that aims to promote human rights and create opportunities for marginalised groups such as women and children.

ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. 

I need to raise £800 for International Service who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work. You can check out their amazing work here:

The money you donate does not go directly towards my placement and it doesn't fund a holiday for me! Any money you donate goes towards all the projects International Service undertakes and ensures that ICS is able to continue its work in sending young UK volunteers abroad to help fight poverty on meaningful and sustainable projects (so no excuses not to donate!)

Ps. There's been a lot of negative viral blogposts and articles about  "voluntourism" lately and a lot of this bad press doesn't relate to projects that International Service and ICS run. I won't be showcasing my useless bricklaying skills but instead will be doing office-based work that has been proven to positively benefit the communities I'll be working in.
