On the 20^th September, I am volunteering as a driver with Eden Aid (www.edenaid.org) to drive a 4 day, 4,000 km (non-stop, minimal sleep) round trip across Europe to the Ukraine border to deliver minibuses full of much needed aid supplies. On our return journey, we will coming back to the UK with the minibuses full of displaced Ukrainians to bring them back to their host families in the UK to start building their new lives.

The war in Ukraine is far from over and Eden Aid are seeing a huge on-going demand (with waiting lists) to help people flee the conflict. The people that we are focused on are the vulnerable. The old, sick or disabled, very late in pregnancy and mums with multiple, often small, children.

As I’m sure you know, hardly any men are able to leave Ukraine so the majority of the people that Eden Aid is able to bring to the UK are women and children. They are leaving behind their homes, sons/dads/husbands and everything they know. Often carrying no more than a suitcase which contains all that is left from their life.

Eden Aid are partnered with the International Refugee Trust (IRT) so that they can secure Gift Aid from all the money raised from UK taxpayers. All the money raised here goes directly to Eden Aid to fund more humanitarian trips.
