HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO SEE ALICE COLVIN-COUSLEY LOOK LIKE AN EGG? If so, now's your chance to sponsor me to do just that!
I figured, if I'm going to do something drastic I might as well make it matter. Consider this as a chance to donate something to a cause you might not usually do. If you do, cheers to you! We're all helping out a little bit. You can donate as little as £2, and that's less than a meal deal at tescos.
Bonus: I'm going to livestream/somehow record the whole event on Facebook/Instagram and if you donate, you can offer suggestions for stupid looks I can chop myself into on the way down! Want me to shave a giant hole into my hairline, monk-style, then do a photoshoot? Done! I'm thinking I put it to the vote as to what you want me to do, and then when it happens we can all delight in my humiliation.
A serious note: in January last year, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She'd always been a level head, wise and extremely collected, so her decline came as a massive shock to my family. She now requires constant attention and care lest she become panicked or hurts herself by accident (she has broken her arm before and walked into the road without an eye kept on her).
My uncle and mother are working tirelessly to look after her and keep her as safe, cared-for and happy as she can be in the mental state she finds herself in. I have a lot of respect for what they're doing. God knows that finding yourself having to be your mother's carer as she declines back into a child-like state is an emotionally and physically exhausting. I'm so proud of what they do to look after my Grandma.
Alzheimer’s Society’s works hard to make life better for those caring for & those with dementia. They fund research, awareness, care and advice. In addition to this, they:
- Run a service called “Dementia Friends” where those wishing to help can learn about the condition and things they can do to help those in their community.
- Run the National Dementia Helpline which offers information, advice and emotional support to people affected by dementia.
- Have over 200 free publications with useful and clear advice about the disease.
- Maintain 3,000 services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland that offer information, care and support to people with dementia, their families, friends and carers.
Funding their efforts helps make the lives of those with Dementia and the lives of their carers infinitely easier and more bearable through this horrible disease.
Thanks for reading my profile and hope you’ll consider giving a little donation x
