Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April I will be running the Brighton Marathon, both in memory of my father Peter as well as to raise money for Katharine House Hospice who looked after him in his final weeks.
As you may be aware, I was originally entered for the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2020, however due to covid this has been pushed back and I am now entered for Brighton this April.
Dad was diagnosed with composite lymphoma in late 2017, and after several bouts of chemotherapy, which took a severe toll both physically and mentally, succumbed to the disease on 19th of June 2019. Prior to his diagnosis, he had been very active, regularly skiing and cycling, but his illness, and the treatment, quickly put an end to this. However, with help from Katharine House, in the last few months he found a new burst of energy, living his final days in full as he had for his entire life.
About Katharine House Hospice:
Katharine House cares for almost 300 people at any one time in their homes, in care homes, at our hospice or in the hospital, and we’re available to a population of 155,000 people in north Oxfordshire, south Northamptonshire and south Warwickshire.
All our services are free of charge.
Make Every Moment Matter:
This year Katharine House faces a budgeted deficit of £435,000 due to increased need for our services, rising healthcare costs and static funding from the government. We urgently need your support to help close this funding shortfall and make every moment matter for local people facing life-limiting illness. Local end-of-life care services are at risk – please support Katharine House to ensure local people can access the care they urgently need.
