Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On 3rd October 2021 I will be running the London Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society.
Why am I running for Alzheimer’s Society?
In March 2019 my Grandma, Barbara, passed away after suffering from dementia. She was one of the most special people in my life and I miss her every day.
She suffered with Alzheimer’s for many years and I remember vividly those early symptoms of the disease, the look of confusion on her face and the moments where her memory wasn’t clear or working. I felt like these were the most scariest times for her, the feeling of knowing something wasn’t quite right but the control of her own brain was slowly slipping away.
Even though her memory continued to dim, Grandma still shone bright till the end and there were many moments of fun and laughter through her fight. Towards the end of her life she loved holding onto someone’s hand and getting up to dance, singing and sitting outside with a tea and slice of cake, enjoying the sun and flowers!
Who are Alzheimer’s Society?
With someone developing dementia every three minutes, dementia is set to be the UK’s biggest killer, affecting all our futures. It doesn’t discriminate, it devastates lives, and right now there’s no cure.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, fund research to find a cure and create a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.
I am running the marathon in memory of my Grandma, with a hope that the money I raise can help to keep others' memories alive.
I really appreciate all of your support and I am so grateful for any donations.
