Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to set myself a challenge for 2019 to raise money for Dorchester County Hospital Cancer Department,  I am doing this to show my love and respect for the bravest woman I know, my beautiful step sister Becky, who having fought breast cancer and been in remission for 2 years has now been told that the cancer has returned and is so aggressive it is incurable.  I can’t imagine how I would cope/react/digest that news, but I am pretty certain it would not have been with the same mind blowing bravery and selflessness that she has – inspiring does not even come close.  She is awesome, and a fighter, so she is not going to take it lying down, so whilst she is battling this cruel beast I wanted to do something to show her that I will be thinking about her each and every day and sending her as much strength and positivity as I can muster.

So I am going to run every day in 2019, come rain or shine,
with kids or without, at work, home or on holiday, feeling on top of the world or like shit – you get the idea, I will get myself out for a run each and every day, it may be 500m around the field or on cycle path alongside  boys on bikes, scooters and the dog, or a
lovely long run with my best friends at my side, I am not going to set a
minimum distance as circumstances will dictate it, but my target is to run 500 miles in the year.

I hope that this is enough of a challenge that people feel
they should make a donation – the hardest part is not the 500 mile target but the commitment of making time to run every day, I work full time and I am a single mum of 3 boys, for whom I do the school drop off everyday so I will have to plan every run to fit in with both these responsibilities. I will track it all on Strava (I am hopeless with technology so I hope this works ok!?) but I don’t want to bombard Facebook with my runs, so I will do a monthly update.  Becky has chosen the charity so please dig deep.
