Story

On the 8th January 2016, I was on my way to work, when my life took a turn for the worst. I was involved in a serious car accident, causing long term and traumatic injuries. It was difficult to tell at the beginning what the outcome was going to be, as I managed to break every bone in the lower part of my body.

All the medical team were unbelievable. I was stuck in the car, unable to move, the air ambulance, arrived, saved my life and air lifted me safely to hospital. After a 10 hour operation, 2 months in hospital, and now 3 years later, I am here, and ready to take on this challenge.

I have thought a lot about what challenge to take part in. I love walking so much, so thought this would be the perfect one. For people who are not aware of what it is, it consists of climbing the country's three highest mountains: Mount Snowdon (Wales, 1085m), Scafell Pike (England, 978m) and Ben Nevis (Scotland, 1345m) in 24 hours.

This is taking place on Saturday 26th October, so between now and then I am training up, doing my physiotherapy after a minor knee op a few months ago, and spending the next 8 months doing a lot of hiking! I will be posting it all on my blog, from the training, to the actual event itself.

The Air ambulance rely on the money that we all raise, and it is very important that we are made aware of how many lives they save and the money it costs to do it.

I have written a blog- www.breakingbones.org which tells you in depth about my journey, so please do take a moment to read it. I have also attached some photos which show some moments in hospital and also photos with the air ambulance crew.
