Story
We're running the London Marathon in April and we need your support! We're looking to raise at least £5000 for the Huntington's Disease Association towards supporting people living with this incurable disease and their families.
We're running both in memory of Alice's mum, Jane Harbourne, and to shine a light on the incredible work of unpaid carers like Alice's dad David.
Jane sadly passed away with Huntington's disease in 2009 when she was 54. A caring GP, a double bass player, a lover of trashy mags and sewing, it wasn't until she was in her 40s with four young children that she found out about the brutal disease hurtling towards her.
David cared for her throughout the progression of her illness while working full-time, somehow still finding time for voluntary work and community causes, school play costume-making and charity-baking. He - and thousands of other unpaid carers like him - are incredible, and the HDA recognises this with free specialist support.
Your donations to the HDA will help support lots of other families going through similar challenging times as well as educate healthcare professionals on the complexity of this rare disease.
Truly, every little helps so please give what you can, even if it's the price of a coffee.
