Miles for Missions · 5 May 2022

When patients in London suffer life-threatening injury, only our team can provide them with the help they need. With your support, we can perform complex procedures to save lives where others can’t. We can get there in time to make a difference and provide hope for the patient and their loved ones.

Story

Resplendent in my Baywatch Red swimsuit I'm taking part in London's Air Ambulance's Miles for Missions Swim Challenge, and I am going to swim the distance between London's 4 Major Trauma Centres (Royal London Hospital, St Marys Hospital, St George's Hospital and Kings College Hospital), which is 24 miles.

Obviously I'm not going to actually swim directly between the Major Trauma Centres, because that would involve swimming in London's sewers, and I'm not out of my mind, but I'm going to clock up the distance in several local pools, which is a much cleaner option. And obviously I won't do it in one go, because I'm not an Olympian, but I'm hoping to get it done before the end of June.

I've only recently returned to swimming after a 7 year break and relearning front crawl, so I'm more of a stately galleon than a speed boat, but the most important thing is to raise funds for London's Air Ambulance Charity, who go out to the most seriously injured people in London and rely heavily on public donations.

Thanks in advance for your support!
