Story

I’m thrilled to have secured a last-minute place running in the 2022 London Marathon this October where I will be fundraising on behalf of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Youth).

I am proud to be running for CRY and in memory of my oldest friend Matt Cragg who sadly died of a heart attack in 2014 at the young age of 21.

CRY’s goal is to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death and stop life from being cut. CRY supports young people and families diagnosed with life-threatening cardiac conditions,  promotes vital heart screening programmes and funds medical research.

In my youth (long ago), I was the lucky benefactor of their heart screening programme CRY rolled out for free at my local rugby club which is one example of the action they bring.

Even though this is my debut attempt, I have set myself an ambitious marathon time in the hope of getting as many donations as possible.

You should be able to keep tabs on my training via Strava below :)

Thanks so much in advance!

Ali

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.
