Fundraising for Melanoma UK
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I signed up for the Man Vs Coast event, the website tells me it’s a breath-taking 25 mile route, taking in high cliffs, brooding moorland, picture-perfect beaches, crashing waves, big swells, rough-hewn rocks, water jumps, short swims and a few cheeky surprises. I’ve a feeling this will be a tough one despite that carrot. This will be the furthest I’ve ever ran and the training kicked on again at the start of the year. Although the challenge will be something I enjoy, I’ve always had the intention to run the event with the aim of raising some money for charity. In 2021 I met a family who have been affected by Melanoma and was highlighted to the amazing work Melanoma UK do, and the incredible journey Mike and his family have been on since his diagnosis. The family's dedication to fundraise for a mole mapping machine is an inspiration and something that I'd love to be able to contribute towards. As a landscaper, the charity could well be called upon to support someone I may be close to too. Landscapers, the construction industry and farming have increased exposure to the sun and as such carry a greater risk to the impacts it can have.No doubt such machines will be needed for many of us that work in the landscaping and construction industry in the future.I've set up this page to share my progress, raise funds and awareness and hopefully provide an insight in the the fantastic work Melanoma UK do...As part of my training towards the event I've set myself some targets throughout the year;To run over 1000 miles in 2022To run over 100k per monthTo run over 100,000 ft of elevation in 2022I'll be documenting the training miles on Strava, search for my profile 'Ali McAll' to give us a follow.Thank you for joining me on my journey.
