Story
As a charity with a long history of serving the public, St John Ambulance made an enormous contribution to the pandemic response. By training 30,000 volunteers to support and administer vaccines to the public, SJA alleviated the vaccination burden that would otherwise have fallen on the NHS. The opportunity to form part of the vaccination effort made me feel valuable to society when many regular activities were cancelled due to COVID-19.
The training and support provided by SJA were excellent and encouraged me to look after myself and exercise more, culminating in entering the Cambridge half marathon. I had not run this distance since 2013 when I ran side-by-side with Liz; it was her first mothers' day, and it snowed (what were we thinking!?!) We are hoping for better weather this year.
I would appreciate all donations to enable SJA to continue the excellent work they do and motivate me to finish the 21.1km on Sunday, 17th October 2021.
