Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
The reason I have chosen the British Heart Foundation is because in July 2022, my Dad died from a heart disease called Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy - a disease that causes the muscles in your heart to thicken and makes it harder to pump blood around your body effectively. This alongside some unfortunate living situations, lead to his heart failing and his death much sooner than anyone in the family had anticipated. This disease (according to bhf.org.uk) is currently not curable, however it is treatable. Therefore I want to raise money so that the BHF can research more into this disease and hopefully one day find a sustainable cure for it, so that lives are no longer cut short due to this disease, as well as many other heart diseases.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
