I am running the BUPA Great North Run on 19th September 2010 in aid of Bowel Cancer UK and would really appreciate it if you could make a small contribution to help me reach my target of £500.  Bowel Cancer UK work extremely hard to raise awareness of bowel cancer, campaign for the best treatment and provide practical support and advice. It is a charity that I personally hold close to my heart.

Early diagnosis of bowel cancer in the UK is a problem because people either find it uncomfortable to discuss the symptoms of the disease or simply do not know what they are.

Survival rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in Europe, with 15% more patients being diagnosed at a later stage of the disease compared with most other European countries.
