Story
Hi there;
My name is Alex. I have been a Friday night volunteer in the Naomi House kitchen for several years and so have been privileged to see the excellent work that the hospice does first-hand.
With the onset of Covid it was necessary for me to temporarily step back from my volunteering role but, ten months in, I feel like It is time I did something else to help the hospice out… and this is what brings me here.
While I am no stranger to a brisk jog this distance is probably around twice what I would manage in a normal month and, with a few extra Christmas and lockdown pounds on my frame, my legs are already questioning what I was thinking and I don't start for over a month yet!
I think it is fair to say that Covid and lockdown has been hard on everyone in one way or another and charities have been hit particularly hard. In the absence of charity shop income, organised events and the donations received through countertop pots in shops, pubs and restaurants charities are in need of new ways of realising the revenue they require to keep providing their amazing services.
Please consider supporting me in this challenge and help out the children and families at Naomi House and Jacksplace: Take it from me it is money well spent! Any donation is welcome; at this time more than ever I think that irritating but catchy supermarket advert tag line resonates “every little helps…”
Thank you so much.
Alex
