Dear friends and supporters

Last year I manned the Mencap stand for a couple of hours at the Twickenham volunteer fair.  Throughout the day I had plenty of time to explore and gain further information about other volunteer organizations which were represented on that day.  One Institution I came across, and in particular it's aim and mission statement, which is to support children who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and at times only have a few months left to live, really affected me.  Here is an organization that improves the lives of many who have no choice.  The Shooting Star Children's Hospice not only offers support for the children but also for the families affected. 

Having Cycled from London to Germany last year, I am keen to embark on yet another solo adventure.  Instead of Istanbul, which was my initial destination, I decided to cycle to Barcelona, the Catalan capital which I have visited earlier this year and fallen in Love with (Istanbul is still planned for 2010).  I am really grateful to be alive and to be priveledged enough to be able to embark on such a journey.  I am aware that many people are not.  Hence I thought it important to set up my bicycle trip as a charity event.  Help me make a difference in the lives of children with life-limiting conditions.  The Shooting Star Children's Hospice needs you and your support.  Any contribution, no matter how little or big is welcome.
