Story
Thank you if you have donated so far - it is really appreciated.
My plans have had to change slightly and I will no longer be able to run the Paris Marathon as planned.
I will still be running the Manchester Marathon on April 16th and also the Wilmslow Half on March 26th and the Manchester Half on May 21st. I am also planning on picking up more events as the year goes on.
You donations mean the world and will make a huge difference and they help with every mile I manage to complete over the next few months. Thank you.
There is a high chance that you, your parents, your partner, your grandparents, your friends (you get the drift) will develop Alzheimer's as time ticks on and with it will come financial hurdles, decisions about care and emotional impact.
The NHS says 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 and 1 in every 6 people over the age of 80 will be affected.
However...there are great people doing great things to help...
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day of a cure, they are working to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
My Gran made her great escape just before the start of Covid - her final years were a steady decline of memory loss, confusion and ultimately 24 hour care - this cause is close to my family and many families across the UK and even with the recent good news about Lecanemab there is a still a long way to go.
I have set a hugely ambitious fundraising target - but I'm confident that with your help I can get as close to it as possible and help Alzheimer's Society continue their great work.
