Story
Hi!
Thanks for coming to my page. Fundraising isn't easy, especially in the crazy world we're in but the reason I am asking you to donate is quite simply because of my Dad! He is incredible.
He turned 80 this year, so born in 1941, he has seen and been through some serious events in his time. Over the last 11 years or so his health has been a huge journey! Not only for him but for us all; his four daughters, his wife, ten grandkids and four sons in law. My Dad, is quite simply a patchwork. A medical marvel!
He was diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) in 2010. It is a common life-threatening genetic condition that causes high cholesterol. After that diagnosis, well, he hit the ground running and has become quite a project for the multitude of doctors he meets! Forever keeping the students on their toes and professors for that matter!
My Dad, has gone through the mill and still continues to put up a sterling fight. His list of surgery and treatment is like a CV to medical professionals.

Chuck in a few heart attacks, my Dad is truly like no one else! He also continues to visit Harefield for fortnightly LDL apheresis - something of an old hat on the unit now after 11 years of treatment!
So as you can see from the above, I want to raise money for BHF and I'd be so grateful for your support. Without the work they do, my Dad wouldn’t be here today!
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. I appreciate COVID is hard going mentally and physically at the moment but BHF still need to continue to support hundreds of people like my Dad and my family.
My family and I would be very grateful for anything you can donate.
I am hoping for a sub 2hr race! 🤞 Let the training commence!
Many Thanks,
Al
