Story
I've decided to walk 43 miles west from London in solidarity with refugees in Ukraine - 43 miles is the distance from Lviv to the border with Poland. While some have been able to flee the bombing by rail or motor, many have had to make their way on foot, and more will follow them.
I will be doing this walk as a ritual walk for peace, all in one day (barring any issues that I cannot foresee), passing the Ukrainian Embassy and heading west out of London.
I am no athlete, and while I do frequently take long walks, 43 miles is as much a stretch for me as it would be for most people, as much a stretch as it likely is for most anyone walking that far or farther in Ukraine to get to safety. I'm honestly rather apprehensive about undertaking this walk, but how much the more so if I were doing it when I knew not where next the bombs might fall nor whom I might meet along the road?
Think of what it would be like for you to have to undertake that journey and please: give generously as you are able.
British-Ukrainian Aid is a well-established UK charity that has long been helping people affected by conflict in Ukraine. I'm raising money for their current campaign, about which they say:
'As the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine escalates, please help those affected with humanitarian and medical aid: items for their immediate emergency and ongoing needs, medical supplies, hygiene packs, first aid kits, transportation, evacuation and critical services. We raise funds to provide immediate, direct support.'

It took less than 24hours to reach the goal! So I've reset the bar at £300 - a massive thank you to everyone who has already given: you are amazing.
