Story
The 2020 global pandemic certainly reshaped the way many of us appreciate life, health and love. After having my 2020 marathon spot initially cancelled (and then thankfully regained), I decided if I was to run the NYC marathon again it would be for a charitable cause. As a veterinarian and a parent, protecting the quality of life of, advocating for and providing comfort to those who cannot speak on their own is paramount in my everyday life. This is why I decided to be a Champion for CHAM.
Money raised by the Champion for CHAM marathon runners will benefit CHAM's Quality in Life Team (QUILT). This team of palliative care experts are trained to help families navigate medical decisions and offer support as they face the uncertainty of life-threatening and fatal illnesses, including COVID-19. Additionally, QUILT provides supportive contact for those patients who are unable to have a family member present due to infection control issues.
