Story

Tragically, my sister and her husband lost their son Henry aged only 25 days. When reflecting on that time, while much of it is a blur, much of it is still crystal clear in my mind – particularly the actions they took to try and identify what caused him to die. It is still unconfirmed as to what caused Henry’s death but one of the suggestions following much investigation was that he had a recessive gene disorder, possibly mitochondrial disease. There is no cure for this disease which is for many debilitating and life limiting.

I want to run a half marathon for The Lily Foundation; a charity that conduct research on this disease, they look at the diagnostics and treatments so to try and identify potential interventions that could slow this disease.

For my sister, her husband and our family and friends who had to deal with the devastating loss of losing Henry who was a little brother, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin - another person in our team; please dig deep and sponsor me to help the Lily Foundation in looking to find interventions that could help other families that live with this disease every day.

I promise I will give it my all to get around the course for him.

Many Thanks,

Al
