Story
Aside from all the normal pressures from the pandemic etc., things really peaked for my family last summer when my son was born and was then almost immediately transferred to intensive care with a form of pneumonia. A couple of weeks after we got out of hospital my two year old daughter was rushed to hospital and long story short had also contracted pneumonia (caused by a virus known as RSV), which caused one of her lungs to collapse so she had to be put into an induced coma and onto a ventilator for a week. She then remained in hospital for a week after being monitored and weaned off the medication, with only one parent being able to visit at a time due to Covid restrictions. Following this they have had a string of other bugs, some of which have needed us to go back into the hospital for several days on oxygen support etc.
Because of this I have chosen to run the London Marathon for Action for Children not only for the amazing things they do for children, but also the support they provide to parents (particularly regarding mental health support). This will be a great motivator to get me back into exercise and improve my own physical and mental health.
