Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
Story
I Can't Walk… But I Can Fly! (well, at least be pushed out of an aeroplane!)
And, with your support, help two important charities:
- The MS Society and - The MSRC (Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre)
(I very much hope that the donations to each of these charities will be equal. If you wouldn't mind entering half of your donation on this page for the MS Society and the other half at www.justgiving.com/alexcowanskydive-msrc for the MSRC, I'd really appreciate that. Alternatively, just check which charity has the lower amount and donate on that page!)
So what am I doing? On Sunday 13th July 2008, tied in tandem to an experienced instructor from the London Parachute School, I will jump out of a small plane flying over Oxfordshire at 13,500 feet, fall for 40 seconds, reach about 120mph, and then spend the next 5 minutes floating gracefully down to the ground under a parachute.
And why am I doing this? I lead a diverse and busy life (when my fatigue and physicality allow) doing a variety of voluntary and other work to do with disability awareness, equality and access. I also like doing media work. And of course, I like to go out and have fun. Sometimes I combine all three, like when I co-devise and perform wheelchair burlesque cabaret shows! But I couldn't do any of this without assistance, support and help from many other people and organisations, two of whom focus on, and work very hard for, people with MS. Doing this skydive, and fundraising for it, is one way I can give something back.
Thanks so much in advance for any donation you would like to make.
