Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know, it has been 3.5 years since I lost my sight, this has been a tough journey and I have now only just made it through to the other side. One reason for this is due to my running (with and without Guide Runners), which has kept my mental health in check and take ownership over my sight.
As you may not know, there are very little resources available to help those with full or partial sight loss and there is a struggle to have support and resources readily available across the country. I can’t stress enough the importance of small charities, such as Support 4 Sight, who try to help provide those resources and support required across all of Essex. Support 4 Sight is one of very few sight loss charities in Essex and the only one based in the Chelmsford area.
I personally wish I knew of Support 4 Sight sooner than I did, I found them, by chance, in August 2019 and I have met others affected by sight loss that didn’t know of the charity and what they offer.
I want to raise as much awareness and money as possible so that this wonderful charity can be more well known across the Essex area and can continue to provide their amazing support, advice and resources throughout the local area where it is desperately required.
This half marathon is one of many that I will be doing across 2020 as I am just feeling it, so to speak! I hope that any money I raise from doing these half marathon’s (starting with the Cambridge half) will help Support 4 Sight. My friend and guide runner, Russ, will be supporting me throughout this half-marathon, where we hope to achieve great things (and maybe a PB?)
