Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
When Alex Brading heard that The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton was seeking to raise money for an MRI Scanner she was of a mind to help. Not only is it a great cause that will bring diagnostic healthcare benefits closer to thousands in the area, but Alex's dear friend, Fi Saxby, is undergoing chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the hospital.
The two got talking and decided to combine forces to help raise funds. Both had lost close family and friends to cancer and this was an opportunity to do something as a tribute to them and a schoolboy who lived near Northallerton.
In Fi's case it was also an opportunity to do something in recognition of the tremendous efforts and dedication of all the staff treating her at the hospital.
To help raise funds, Alex had her hair shaved off on Friday the 5th of Feb, while Fi is losing hers - albeit at a slower rate! By the time they have their hair back on (wigs don't count!) they hope to have made a real difference to the Scanner Appeal Fund. Alex's hair has been posted to The Little Princess Trust (19 7" plaits!), so that it can be used to make wigs for children suffering with cancer.
The target for the Scanner is £2,000,000 of which approx. £500,000 remains to be raised.
To help you can simply donate through this page or if you are up to the challenge you could ask some friends to sponsor you to shave your hair off too!
