Story
I am running the London Marathon 2021 in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation because I want to help them achieve their goal of defeating meningitis and septicaemia wherever they exist.
I am running in memory of my friend Emma Kennedy, who lost her life to meningitis at age 24. Meningitis can affect anyone, but is most common in babies, young children, teenagers, and young adults. It affects over 5 million people globally, and the Meningitis Research Foundation funds vital research, advocates for change as a dedicated champion for those it affects, and takes action that benefits people, including running awareness campaigns, training health professionals, and providing support and information. This charity's cause is close to my heart, and all funds raised will go towards this organisations essential work.
I ran the London Marathon virtually in 2020 due to COVID-19, so 2021's marathon is the real deal! COVID-19 has taken a huge toll on many charities and their sources of income, and MRF needs help now more than ever. I'm honoured to continue fundraising for this cause.
Please join me in donating to the Meningitis Research Foundation – to help end meningitis and septicaemia and support those affected – and celebrating Emma's bright and beautiful light as I run the London Marathon 2021.
Any donations to the Meningitis Research Foundation go directly to the charity as soon as the donation is made, and these donations are so important for MRF to continue their lifesaving work.
