Hello again,

 

I am running the Great North Run this year in aid of Guide Dogs. The importance of this charity was highlighted to me when the Golden Retriever in the second photo to the left, Leigh, came to live with my mum and stepdad.

 

Leigh was a retired Guide Dog who had worked hard for all his life and helped his owner, Helen to do those things that may have eluded her otherwise. However, Helen was to get a new little helper, and she could not keep Leigh. My mum adopted him and provided him with a retirement home.

 

However, Leigh became ill and developed diabetes from which he went blind himself, and sadly died from the illness. However, Leigh had a noble life enabling Helen and enriching her life in more ways than helping with her sight, and when he came to live with us, he enriched our lives in so many ways including bringing you your shoes when you least wanted them. Not only did Guide Dogs provide Helen with help, they helped Leigh until the end providing him with specialist food and vetenary care; they did not give up on him and this shows what a wonderful charity this truly is.

 

Guide Dogs do a wonderful job and I feel it is a charity that sometimes gets overlooked.
