On 17th October I will be running the Big Fun Run 5k in Ipswich in order to raise as much as possible for Save the Children's Child Refugee Crisis Appeal. I have just a few facts and figures here that have compelled me to do as much as I can for these children, many of whom have been orphaned because of war and the appalling conditions in which their brave parents, family members and friends have endured in order to try and provide the children with a safe future.
So far this year 350,000 desperate people have made the perilous journey across the Mediterranean sea.
In Italy alone, over 7500 children have arrived without their parents, family or friends.
Many of these children have arrived in Europe without toenails because of the enormous distances they have had to walk, with untold psychological damage from the terrifying journey they have had no choice but to make in order to survive.
Ultimately, no one puts a child in a boat unless the water is safer than the land. This little run is just a small way in which we can help these vulnerable children stay safe and cared for.
I am so grateful for your support, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
