Story
On the 1st and 2nd of October, we will be completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours to raise money for The Survivors Trust.
Whether it happens to you, or someone you love, sexual assault is something that will inevitably effect all of us at some point in our lives, it’s currently unavoidable. The problem is endemic within society, attackers and victims come from all walks of life- there is not a singular description on how either should look or who they should be when it comes to this issue.
For the survivor, the aftermath is confusing, long lasting and painfully traumatic. Sexual assault and rape changes everything, life is never really the same again. A lot of therapy and physical and mental healing is often needed, and the care a survivor receives in the early days after an attack can make all the difference to the long term recovery.
The survivors trust supports victims of rape and sexual assault through providing free counselling services in one of their centres/agencies located around the UK. They also provide training to governments agencies, police and schools in order to better help them understand how to support survivors. So! To release some of our built up frustration surrounding this issue, bring some awareness and hopefully some cash to this incredible charity the 6 of us will be climbing the 3 National Peaks (Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales) in under 24 hours. This is a total walking distance of 23 miles, an ascent of 10,052ft and a driving distance of 462 miles. All in a day! Wowza!
We are not mountain climbing fitness fanatics and don’t do that well on little sleep so this will by no means be an easy task. We are so appreciative of anything you might be able to donate and any support you can give. Thank you xx
