Story
These are Jo’s words as they most appropriately describe why we are running and raising money for Oxford Children’s Hospital,
“On 22nd November we took our youngest daughter Mary to the GP with slightly unusual bruising on her legs. After a scary 7 hour wait at A&E for blood tests and then the results, in the early hours of 23rd November our darling little Mary (aged 20 months) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukaemia.”
Mary has had an enourmously challenging time since diagnosis but she proves to have unerring levels of strength and determination, as have all the Saunders. The Kamran ward and specialist Oncology team have been amazing and looked after Mary so very well so please donate as much as you can to help with ongoing treatments and research which is so vitally needed, especially as childhood leukaemia numbers are rising by 1% each year!
There a many of Jo and Dino’s friends that want to carry on fundraising, this is their first charity which we hope will benefit and is organised by the beneficiary.
Please also consider blood and platelet donation, they have been vital in Mary’s treatment, going on the platelet register literally takes minutes.
Oxford Hospitals Charity supports the different departments and wards of Oxford University Hospitals, helping to provide the best medical equipment, research and facilities for our patients and staff.Your support helps transform care across all our hospitals, including: The John Radcliffe, Oxford Children's Hospital, Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the Horton General Hospital.
Thank you xx
