Story
Hiya it’s Ali here, I was asked one Thursday if I wanted to swim the English Channel as part of a team for charity and in a moment of madness I said yes!
I will be swimming at the end of July for an amazing Charity called ‘ Swim Tayka’. Swim Tayka’s mission is to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers who can not only provide the life skills of swimming, but create a legacy for today’s children, who will grow up to teach the next generation.
Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide , claiming an estimated 360,000 lives annually – many of them children.
For those who know me, swimming is such a big part of my life, if I am not in the pool or jumping in lakes then I am on poolside coaching.
Swimming the English channel has been one of my lifetime goals - a mental as well as a physical challenge.
I will be part of a team of 6 setting off at 1am from Dover and aiming to reach France within 12-18 hours, with tides of up to 25 knots, seaweed and massive Jellyfish!
I would appreciate any support you could give me to achieve this goal and raise money for this incredible charity.
Thank you!
