Story
This September, along with 24 colleagues, I will be (trying to!) summit 2864m to the top of Mount Triglav in Slovenia as part of my fundraising challenge to support the Ashmore Foundation. The team will take on one of Europe’s most demanding mountain challenges, summiting to the top of Mount Triglav over 2 days including via ferrata and alpine scrambling. After a day of trekking we will rest for the night before ascending the final 300m on a via ferrata, which will see us being harnessed to a steel cable attached to the rock of the mountain and tied to our colleagues, and descending back down!
As you may know I'm not great with rocky climbs with narrow and steep ascents and descents, so when the last few hours of this climb are on a via ferrata, you can imagine my delight, and that's where the 'challenge' will definitely come in...
The Ashmore Foundation is the charitable arm of Ashmore Group plc where I have worked for over 18 years. Ashmore is committed to giving back in the emerging market countries in which it operates and the Ashmore Foundation is a registered charity that makes grants to local NGOs. Its priority countries are Colombia, Peru, India and Indonesia. I was Chair of the Foundation for a number of years and have seen the difference we make in creating economic opportunities for women, young people and disadvantaged communities with a focus on sustainable approaches that consider the environmental consequences of social and community projects.
I would be appreciative if you could take a minute to support my fundraising effort!
