Story
I have recently completed Phase 1 of a project called Global Social Leaders. The vision of the project is to create a society where all organisations are led by socially conscious people, with every young person making the transition into adulthood with the foundations they need for a better future. As Part of Phase 2 we had to complete a challenge that would be beneficial towards someone or something. I decided to raise money for CALM by cycling 75km because I believe that more needs to be done to prevent people from taking their own lives. This is particularly the case for men who feel that they cannot express their feelings and talk to others about how they are feeling therefore I am raising money for CALM. No one should have to experience losing a loved one to suicide. Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM run a free and confidential helpline and webchat 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about their problems.
As part of a piece of work for an English class we had to write a speech on something we feel passionate about. I addressed and spoke about the issue of not enough being done to help males across the UK who are suffering from mental health issues. CALM is a charity dedicated to preventing male suicide. If you would like a copy of the speech please just ask!
Any donations would be greatly appreciated,
Alexander
