I am running the London Marathon 2022 in aid of Spinal Research.Someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications. Back in 2019 I ended up in hospital because I had Transverse Myelitis caused by a parasite I'd picked up 3 years prior with no knowledge. It took 5 weeks for the doctors to find out what it was and another 5 on the neuro-rehab ward before I was discharged home. I had 6 months of very intense rehab, and 3 years on I still work on the deficits I will likely have for the rest of my life. However I am very lucky and I know that many with a SCI don't get to walk around like I can now. It is for this reason I want to raise money for them to help eliminate paralysis!
