UPDATE:
The Bootneck Challenge has been postponed due to Covid-19 however I am running the Richmond Half Marathon and also the Heaton Park Half Marathon (on a treadmill) to continue fundraising toward my goal.
Later this year, I am lucky enough to be taking part in the Bootneck Challenge at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, where for a day, myself along with 60 other fundraisers will be testing our resolve on the Royal Marines' infamous Endurance and Assault Courses!
This event has been organised by the Royal Marines Charity who provide invaluable support to serving Marines, their families and also veterans.
To highlight some of their work, and to also show how donations are distributed, I have a few figures detailed from the charity's 2019 Impact Report below.
In 2018 the charity raised £2.12m in charitable support with a further £1.38m of social value provided, ultimately meaning that the charity's work was worth £3.5m in 2018.
This money goes directly towards supporting family members through association events, assisting discharged Royal Marines into full-time employment, rehabilitation for injured veterans and much more.
Without this support, some of the life-changing treatment and aid the charity provides would not be possible. With this said, I am aiming to raise at least £500 to contribute to the charity so they can continue to do the incredible things they do!
