Story
The Longford Scholarships were set up in 2004 by the Longford Trust in memory of the former cabinet minister Lord Longford (1905-2001), a life-long campaigner for prison reform and, more generally, those on the margins of society. He believed in the paramount importance of education in the rehabilitation of those who have served jail sentences. The rate of reoffending for the prison population at large is 50%. For Longford Scholars it is 4%. So far we have helped 300 plus-people. To fund a scholarship for a year costs £1500. Please donate or pass on if you are interested . I am going to match all donations up to £5000.
