Story
The Marathon Des Sables Challenge
I am going to attempt to run 156 miles in 7 days across the Western Sahara desert in Morocco. The longest stage is 56 miles, when I'll be running in the Sahara in the dark.I'll be carrying 10.5 kg of food, water and equipment during the race.
Temperatures can be as high as 50°C during the day, and as low as -5°C at night.
Approximately 15 to 20 percent of the race is on soft sand dunes, which can be up to 700 ft high, and the remainder is on stoney paths.
I'm not going to wash for 7 days, and I'm going to grow a beard. The pain of this event is going to be agonising.
The Request
Please donate now to the Marine Conservation Society. May I suggest a donation of £10, or more if you feel so inclined.
The Marine Conservation Society
We treat our seas poorly. Overfishing has destroyed many delicate ecosystems and marine habitats. We need to encourage our fishing industries to fish sustainably, so that we can enjoy our marine life in the future.
