Story
Manoj Sukumaran (consultant psychiatrist) and I (Alex Borg, director of Mental Health Services) have decided to throw ourselves out of an airplane at 15,000 feet to raise money to go towards our Fight for All the Feels campaign, specifically to support the establishment of a peer support hub to employ young people with lived experience to support others who may be going through a challenging time.
We will be paying all of the costs associated with the skydive ourselves, so EVERY PENNY goes towards the campaign. I should say that neither of us is particularly fond of heights, and I have had to take up jogging to ensure I come in under the weight limit - so a double challenge for me!
Thank you for supporting Fight for All The Feels.
Fight For All the Feels
Sometimes our feelings can help, but sometimes they hinder and prevent us all from achieving all that we are capable of.
As many as one in six young people between the ages of 16 and 24 have experienced a mental health issue. And the anxieties of a global pandemic mean that its even tougher to deal with an uncertain and changing world. Fight For All The Feels is about helping young people to feel confident in speaking up safely about how they're feeling and raising vital funds for those who need support.
No child or young person should feel like they are isolated and alone and no one should be afraid or shamed to speak out. Fight for All the Feels is addressing the issue of youth mental health head-on. Through our innovative Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) service at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, were providing a range of mental health services to the 0-25 year olds across the city who need them most.
