Story
Myself, Claire, Jayne & Liz will be taking on the Walk 50 Miles in December challenge for Bliss, the UK's leading charity helping babies born premature or full-term, but sick. 1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist neonatal care, which means thousands of babies and their families seek information and support from Bliss every year. By sponsoring me, your donation will help Bliss continue their work to ensure that every baby born premature or full-term who needs neonatal care will have the best chance of survival and quality of life.
My two baby girls were born at 28+5 geststion and spent a combined 16 weeks in neonatal care. The first thing recommended to us by staff nurses was to look at the Bliss website, from there we found so much comfort in all the different articles and advise. I often found myself looking up things on their website when we were having a bumpy time in the NICU and it genuinely really helped. Bliss offer so much more than information, from mental health support to financial support it really is a little bit of sun on a rainy day. For example I had to express breast milk for my girls as they were too tiny to have anything else, the breast pump I used in the hospital had a plaque to say it was donated by Bliss! I was able to give my girls their best chance and start in life thanks to them.
To my Stevie & Jessie, my strong willful girls, you have come so far and are so loved. I am in awe at your resilience every single day 🩷🩷
