I'm taking part in the UK Ironman 70.3 Triathlon
This triathlon comprises a 1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile hilly bike ride and a 13.1 mile run (a half marathon).
For me, this event will be the culmination of 2 years of training from a slovenly couch loving state to hopefully finishing 70.3 miles of self propelled exertion. The cut off times for the swim and the bike are somewhat marginal for me but I hope to find that extra bit of speed from somewhere between now and June!
Please help me get through this event by sponsoring me. All proceeds will go to Rotary-Ironman nominated charities including : British Heart Foundation, Leukaemia Research Fund, Marie Curie Cancer Care, CLIC Sarjent, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Cancer Research UK, Help for Heroes, Life Education Centres, Air Ambulance and Children's Hospices.
As I am raising money for these important charities via the Rotary Club, it seems appropriate to do this event in memory of my Grandfather, Wong Hau Yuen. He was President of the Rotary Club of Kowloon East in Hong Kong. As President, he persuaded all his members to contribute significantly to the Rotary Foundation charity, making his Club the first 100% Paul Harris Fellow Rotary Club in the world. You can read more about my Grandfather here.
Thank you again for visiting my Justgiving page. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help me push to get to the end within the cut off times.
Alex
