Fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young
On 5th February 2013, a friend of mine, Jason Nixon, died unexpectedly from an aortic dissection, aged only 40 leaving behind his wife Vicky and 6 week old baby Joshua.
Aortic dissection is incredibly rare in a man of only 40 and it is possible that this may have been due to an inherited disorder. Joshua will therefore now also be regularly monitored. If caught in time, tears in the aorta can be surgically repaired and a dissection prevented.
The charity I will be raising money for in Jason’s honour is Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
