Story

In 2016 and at the age of 8, my son Ethan was diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes. I am hugely proud that, like any other boy of his age, he leads a totally active life. BUT he needs to test his blood sugar levels with a finger prick and inject insulin into his arm at least five times a day whenever he wants to eat anything in order to avoid severe consequences. This is a lifelong and, for now, irreparable condition.

On July 29th, I will be participating in the RideLondon event in an effort to raise funds for Diabetes UK. This 160km bike ride starts at Olympic Park and follows the London Olympic road race course, out to the famous Surrey Hills, and then back to the finish near Buckingham Palace. As a keen cyclist who likes a challenge (and to hopefully drum up some additional sponsorship!), I will be riding the entire route on a fold-up Brompton bike (pictured above!).

Diabetes UK is a brilliant charity that carries out vital work funding critical research and improving healthcare and treatment for those
afflicted by this condition.

I would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor me for this event.

Many thanks, Alex.
