Story
I am taking on an Emergency Ambulance from my Local Station at Kidlington, by running 109 miles by the end of March, to run further than the Ambulances cover in a standard shift.
So for this challenge, I will attempt to run the 109 miles by the 31st of my 31st birthday month, the 31st March 2021.
All the money raised will make a difference, as one of the volunteers for the charity, I have seen first hand the difference we can make to members of our community.
Saving lives isn't cheap, and the NHS, Ambulance Trusts and Charities need all the help we can give them, especially in our current circumstances.
Each scheme costs about £3000 to set up, and we need to raise the money for new schemes, but also fund the ongoing work of these vital volunteers. All the equipment used by local CFRs is paid for through voluntary contributions:
£ 18 pays for a replacement set of defibrillator pads
£156 pays for a defibrillator battery
£180 pays for the annual rental charges on a CFR emergency pager
£1000 pays for a new automated external defibrillator
£2000 pays for a new, full first responder medical kit
South Central Ambulance Charity raises funds to support South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. All the money raised by our Charity is used to fund services, projects and equipment that is not supplied by Government NHS funding. Without the money, we raise, people in our communities would have to wait longer for help which could affect their recovery. The Charity works across Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire as well as supporting our Patient Transport Services in Surrey and Sussex.
