Story
I have worked as a nurse assessing and supporting people with dementia for the last 3 years and have seen first hand the benefits Admiral Nurses bring to families living with Dementia.
Admiral Nurses give families facing dementia the precious care of a specialist dementia nurse to help them cope in even the toughest of times. Their emotional support and practical advice is a real lifeline for families in crisis and can really help in maintaining a good quality of life.
When things get challenging or difficult, their nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families: giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline–it helps families to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
As you know, I am not an athlete and running 13.1miles will be a real challenge for me but the effort and pain will be worthwhile if we can raise money to enable this great charity to provide more Admiral Nurses to families who would really benefit from their support.
How can I speak to an Admiral Nurse?
Call the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline on 0800 888 6678 from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 5pm during the weekend. Or send an email to helpline@dementiauk.org
