Some of you may be lucky enough to know my dad, the legend that is Pete Raven! What a lot of you won't know is my Dad was lucky enough to be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer about 8yrs ago. You're probably thinking "Cancer...lucky?! Is he mad?! " But the truth is that if he hadn't of been diagnosed when he was, this story might have a very different ending! Fate brought my Dad to the doctors' surgery on the day a Prostate Cancer Specialist was locuming there, and this started a chain of events that went on to save his life! Early diagnosis and treatment in England means over 80% of men go on to survive Prostate Cancer for 5yrs or more after treatment. But we need to make sure research continues until 100% of all cancer patients survive! 

Many of you know me as beer swigging, fag smoking, take away munching slob, i have secured myself a spot in the 2015 London Marathon, running for PROSTATE CANCER UK in honour of our Dad. Not only have i given up beer, fags, and microwave meals but I also need to raise £2000 in sponsorship money to secure my spot, this is where you come in. I am hoping that all you lovely people will help me, to raise money for this amazing cause!!

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. Over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. Over 250,000 men are currently living with the disease.

Who is at risk?

In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives. Older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer and Black men are more at risk. For more information about Prostate Cancer visit their website www.prostatecanceruk.org
