Story
So again this year I'm taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, to raise money for Leeds Marrow and Anthony Nolan- helping them sign up more people to their lifesaving stem cell donor register.
The reason I have to do this again, is that still only 60% of people are getting their best possible tissue match transplant- meaning 40% aren't getting the best opportunity to have a second shot at life. This figure drops to a scary 20% for those from ethnic minorities. To change this, more people need to be on the register, which takes more money, thus it's time for another walk...
The trek itself is 24 miles in 12 hours, up and down 3 peaks and in (from the recent weather here up north...) potentially snowy/sunny/icy/cloudy/rainy/haily conditions. Who knows maybe all of them. Added to that I will also be driving a minibus full of our intrepid trekkers there and back on the day- adding to the challenging nature.
